Ruth Greer Neal

Ruth Greer Neal, age 88, of 2061 Pipping Tree Ferry Road, Mechanicsville, Virginia, passed away on Tuesday, October 26, 2004 at the Ashland Convalescent Center following an extended illness. A native of Lansing, North Carolina, she was born on December 17, 1916 to the late Madison and Neva Greer. In addition to her parents, Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Jessie C. Neal, two sisters, Pearl Carpenter, Victoria Roop; two brothers, James Greer and Harold Greer and step-son, John Wayne Neal. Ruth was a homemaker and a member of Pine Grove Baptist Church. Ruth is survived by three daughters, Anna Mae Neal and step-son Jackson of Elizabethton, Tn, Beatrice Jean Wright and husband Jackie Lee, Mechanicsville, VA and Rita Marie Burke and husband Charles Walter of Hampton, TN; two sisters, Ruby Denny of Lansing, NC and Clara Kincaid, Kincaid, WVA; one brother, Herbert Greer of Johnson City, TN; ten grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral Services for Ruth will be conducted at 8:00 p.m. Thursday, October 28, 2004 from the Hux-Lipford Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Haskel Ingram and Rev. Carl Swift to officiate. Graveside Services and Interment will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 29, 2004 from Sunset Memorial Park, Mountain City, Tennessee. Pallbearers will be Family and Friends of Ruth. Visitation will be from 6-8:00 p.m. Thursday, prior to Services, at the Funeral Home Chapel. At other times, friends may call at the residence of Anna and Jackson Neal, 162 Peters Hollow Road, Elizabethton, Tennessee.
