Ruth Potter age 86, of McEwen Road, Mountain City, passed away on Thursday Nov 16, 2023. She was born December 27, 1936 to the late Smith Butler Gambill and Charlotte Gouge Gambill. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Earl J. Potter; a daughter, Tammy Potter; brothers, Henry Gambill, Pate Gambill, Tobe Gambill, Roy Gambill and James Gambill and a sister, Mary Gambill.
Ruth was a homemaker and had also worked at Mountain City Glove Plant for over thirty years. She was a member of the Rainbow Mennonite Church and enjoyed gardening, canning and spending time with her kids and grandkids.
Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Debbie Crowder (ED) of Mountain City; sons, Mark Potter of Mountain City and Jim Potter of Mountain City; two grandchildren, Tammy Smith (Billy) of Mountain City and Kevin Potter of Mountain City. two great-grandchildren, Abby and Jadynn; her dog, Sadie; several nieces and nephews and special friends, Effie Gambill, Myrle Payne, Beulah Clampitt and Earlene Crowder also survive.
The family will have a private service on Monday, November 20, 2023. She will be laid to rest in the Hammons Cemetery.
