Ruth Rhymer, age 88, of 415 McElyea Road, Mountain City, Tennessee, passed away at the Mountain City Care Center on Wednesday, April 6, 2005. A native of Johnson County, Tennessee, she was born on November 16, 1916 to the late Andy and Cora Dyson. In addition to her parents, Ruth was preceded in death by her husband Willis Rhymer, who passed away in 1975; one daughter, Violet Rhymer Eller, who passed away in 2002; four sisters, Pauline Guy, Ruby Woods, Kitty Phillips and Shirley Blevins and two infant brothers. She loved quilting and embroidering. Ruth was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church. Ruth is survived by two sons, Burl Rhymer and wife Helen of Jessup, Maryland and Earl Rhymer of Mountain City; six grandchildren: Patsy Cullop, Tommy Rhymer, Bridgett Henson, all of Mountain City, Michael Rhymer of Texas, Burley Rhymer and William Rhymer, both of Maryland; twelve great grandchildren; two brothers, Charlie Dyson and Andy Dyson, both of Mountain City and two sisters, Mary Woods and Katherine Dyson, both of Mountain City. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral Services for Ruth will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, April 8, 2005 from the First Baptist Church with Rev. Harry Wills and Mr. Jim Hutchinson to officiate. Graveside Services and Interment will follow from the Donnelly Cemetery. Active Pallbearers will be: Ronda Reece, Bill Moore, Bud McComas, Clifford Woods, Charles Dyson and Harold Woods. The family will receive friends from 7-9:00 p.m. Thursday, April 7, 2005 at the Hux-Tetrick Funeral Home, where the body will remain until taken to the First Baptist Church to lie in state one hour prior to Services Friday. At other times, friends may call at the residence of granddaughter, Patsy Cullop, 410 Houser Lane, Mountain City, Tennessee 37683.
