Ruth Taylor, age 70, of 1096 Furnace Creek Road, Mountain City, Tennessee, passed away on Tuesday, August 3, 2004 at her residence following an extended illness. A native of Grayson, North Carolina, she was born May 16, 1934 to the late Edgar and Ollie Faye Lewis - Stanley. In addition to her parents, Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Taylor; two brothers, Junior Stanley and Howard Stanley and one great-grandson, Casey Eden. Ruth was a former employee of the Mountain City Glove Plant. She was a member of the Pleasant View Christian Church. Ruth is survived by one daughter, Louise Dickens and husband Ira; two sisters, Ruby Denny Allen and Dulcie Taylor; one brother, Bart Stanley; five grandchildren, David Dickens and wife Magdalena of the Home, Jeff Dickens, Ronnie Dickens, Chad Dickens and Becky Williams, all of Mountain City, Tennessee; eight great grandchildren; special friends June Williamson of Alabama and Faye Smith of Mountain City. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral Services for Ruth will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, August 6, 2004 from the Pleasant View Christian Church with Pastor Gary Bowman to officiate. Music will be provided by Kerry Gentry. Graveside Services and Interment will follow in the Stanley Cemetery. Active Pallbearers will be: David Dickens, Jeff Dickens, Chad Dickens, Johnny Dickens, Eddie Taylor and Mark Grindstaff. Honorary Pallbearers will be the Men of Pleasant View Christian Church. The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 p.m. Thursday, August 5, 2004 from the Hux-Lipford Funeral Home Chapel. At other times, friends may call at the residence of daughter, Louise Dickens, 466 Red Brush Road, Mountain City, Tennessee.
