Ruth Ennis Vanover, age 93, of 6757 Forge Creek Road, Mountain City, TN, went home to be with the Lord Thursday, March 25, 2004 at her home after a brief illness. A native of Johnson County, she was born November 18, 1910 to the late James J. and Laura Caroline Jones Payne. She was also preceded in death by a son-in-law, Raymond Wood and ten sisters and brothers. Mrs. Vanover was a homemaker, a member of Big Laurel Church of Christ in Christian Union, loved gardening and cooking, was a substitute teacher, and in her younger years she was a Sunday School teacher at Laurel Springs Methodist Church. Survivors include her husband of 58 years, Fred E. Vanover, two daughters: Helen Marie Wood of Mountain City and Virginia Alease Ellege and husband, Terry, of Athens, GA; two sons: Homer Ross Vanover and wife, Marjorie, of Mountain City and James Edward Vanover and wife, Darlene, of Mountain City; one granddaughter, eleven grandsons, seventeen great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11 a. m. Sunday from the Big Laurel Church of Christ and Christian Union. Rev. Homer Vanover, Rev. Darrel Graybeal and Rev. Frank Woods will officiate. Entombment will follow in the Sunset Memorial Park Mausoleum of Love. Pallbearers will be family. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p. m. Saturday at the church.
