Selma Ruth Cornett

Selma Ruth Cornett, age 74, of 206 Shoun Street, Mountain City, Tennessee passed away at her residence on Saturday morning March 24, 2012. She was born in Ashe County, North Carolina on April 14, 1937 to the late George Washington Campbell and Emmer Myrtle Farmer Campbell. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings and a grandson, Bobby Lee Hurd Jr. Mrs. Cornett was a member of the First Freewill Baptist Church. She loved reading her Bible and spending time with her family. She was a loving mother and homemaker. She is survived by her husband, Kenneth Cornett and children: Pamela Cornett, Mountain City, TN; Deirdre Hurd and husband , Bobby, Abingdon, Va; Malena Jones and husband, Danny, Mountain City, TN; Ricky Cornett and wife, Diane and Jeffrey Cornett of Mountain City, TN. She is also survived by eleven grandchildren: Missy, Hollie, John, Brandon, Josh, Travis, Karissa, Emilee, Chloe, Claire, and Lacy and five great grandchildren: Matt, Mandy, Deanna, Makynna and Savanna and a special friend, Dorothy Canter. She is also survived by her loving dog Roscoe. Funeral services for Mrs. Selma Ruth Cornett will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, March 26, 2012 from the Charles B. Hux Memorial Chapel of Hux-Lipford Funeral Home with Rev. Ted Lewis officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. prior to the funeral service. Graveside service and interment will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 27, 2012 from the Reece Memorial Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Danny Cornett, Mike Dunn, Bobby Hurd, Danny Jones, Brandon Greenwell, Matthew Cornett, Josh Cornett, Travis Jones and Billy Stanley.
