Sherry Diane Campbell Stout, age 65 of Laurel Bloomery TN, went to be with Jesus on November 5, 2024 at Johnston Memorial Hospital in Abingdon, VA. She was born October 9th, 1959 in Mountain City, TN, to the late Preacher Clyde Campbell and Della Gentry Campbell.
In the Spring of 1978, Sherry was invited on a first date with her future husband Carl Stout, however, Carl found himself at the drag race forgetting about his scheduled date. Despite this mishap of events, they were soon married on June 23rd, 1978 and spent the next 46 years together. Within the years of their marriage, one of her proudest moments was welcoming her son and later her two grandsons into the world. She was a member of Stateline Baptist church in Laurel Bloomery. Reading her Sunday school book was one of her favorite parts of her daily routine. Sherry was a loyal employee at Walmart for over 20 years where she made countless friends, both with co-worker's and customers . In her free time, she shopped till she dropped whether in store or online, with a frosted coffee in hand. She also enjoyed her HG TV shows, contemporary Christian music, and a good hallmark movie. Perhaps she is best known for the beautiful songs she sang with her sister, Sharon.
Those left to cherish her memories include her husband, Carl Stout; son, Daniel (Danielle) Stout; sister, Sharon Winters; brother, David (Jane) Campbell; nephew’s, Eugene Campbell and Nathan (Vangie) Winters; Grandsons, Silas Stout and Ezra Stout; Great nephew, Zachary Winters (Kelsey); Great niece’s, Natalie Winters (Hayden) and Madelyn Campbell; Mother in law, Julia Mae Stout. Other special people in her life including her sweet friends, Betty, Tess, and Virginia.
Funeral service for Sherry will be held Saturday, November 9th, 2024 at 3PM at Stateline Baptist Church with Pastor Dave Newbern and Michael Icenhour bringing a message about the goodness of being dependent on the Lord. The family will receive friends from 2PM to 3PM prior to the service. Graveside service and interment will follow in the Gentry Cemetery.
