Shirley Norris Dotson

Shirley Norris Dotson, age 71, of 618 Dotson Road, Trade, TN, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, April 28, 2004 at her home. A native of Creston, NC, she was a daughter of the late William T. and Nora Cornett Norris and the wife of the late, Dayton Dotson, who passed away in 1991. Shirley was employed for twelve years at Shadowline in Boone, NC, was a member of Evergreen Baptist Church, and loved to quilt and crochet. She was also preceded in death by a grandson, William Douglas Dotson, a sister, Jewell Robinson and three brothers: Guavine, Tracy and Grover Norris. Survivors include her daughter, Barbara Taylor and husband, Dean of Mountain City; her son, William T. (Bill) Dotson and wife, Louella of Trade; grandchildren: John Nelson and wife, Wendy of Mountain City and Brandon Dotson of Trade; great-granddaughter, Frankie Rebecca Nelson; her special friend, Pauline Wallace of Trade. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be held at 8 p. m. Friday from Evergreen Baptist Church. Rev. Ray Branch will officiate. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p. m. Friday prior to the services at the church. Graveside services will be held at 10 a. m. Saturday from the Parks-Dotson Cemetery at Trade. At other times, friends may call at the home of Bill and Louella Dotson, 266 Bill Dotson Road in Trade.
