Shirley Jenkins

December 8, 1937 — April 21, 2015

Shirley Jenkins, age 77, of 459 Taft Eggers Lane, Trade, TN passed away Tuesday, April 21, 2015 in Wake Forest Baptist Hospital in Winston Salem, NC. She was the daughter of the late William Howard "Taft" Eggers and Rosa Ella Miller Eggers. Shirley was an active member of Dewey Christian Church. Her hobbies included canning, quilting, sewing, building bird houses and she especially enjoyed spending time with and supporting her grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister and brother-in-law: Roma Jean and Blaine Lipford, an infant sister, and a sister-in-law: Elinore Eggers. Survivors include: Bob Jenkins, father of her children, Laurel Bloomery TN;one daughter: Karen Jenkins of Mountain City, TN; one son and daughter-in-law: Darren and April Jenkins of Trade, TN; four grandchildren: Christi Gentry and husband Brad and Cheri Lipford and husband Craig all of Mountain City, TN; Dustin Jenkins and Julia Jenkins, both of Trade, TN; four great grandchildren: Abby Lipford, Peyton Gentry, C. J. Lipford, and Ella Gentry; three sisters: Sue Wilson of Limestone, TN, Phyllis Parker and husband Dallas of Trade, TN, and Wanda Brown and husband Bill of Mountain City, TN; three brothers: Earl Eggers of Mountain City, TN, Eddie Eggers and wife Liz of Star Valley, AZ, and Ted Eggers and wife Jan of Bristol, TN; and several nieces and nephews. Special friends, her church family, also survive. Funeral services will be conducted at 8:00 p.m. Saturday, April 25, 2015 from Dewey Christian Church with Mr. Bud Gentry officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. prior to the funeral service. Entombment will be at 1:00 pm on Sunday April 26, 2015 from Sunset Memorial Park Mausoleum of Love. Active pallbearers will be Dustin Jenkins, Brad Gentry, Craig Lipford, Carroll Parker, Terry Parker, Jeff Brown and Robbie Brown. Honorary pallbearers will be nephews, church members and members of Johnson County Rescue Squad. At other times friends may call at the home of her daughter, Karen Jenkins, at 684 Hospital Hill Lane, Mountain City, TN. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her memory to Dewey Christian Church, 3548 Hwy 67 W, Mountain City, TN 37683, the Johnson County Rescue Squad, 203 Vandilla Street, Mountain City, TN 37683 or to Johnson County Cancer Support Group in care of Flo Bellamy 3510 highway 421 N., Mountain City, TN 37683.
