Stephen Kulin, Jr., age 58 of 5034 Southwest 145th Avenue, Miami, Florida, formerly of Shady Valley, Tennessee passed away October 30, 2005 in the Veterans Administration Medical Center, Mountain Home, Tennessee following a brief illness. Mr. Kulin was born March 11, 1947 in Elizabethton, Tennessee to the late Stephen Kulin, Sr., who passed away in 2003 and Gladys Esther Wright Kulin, who passed away in 1974. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Chandler Kulin. Mr. Kulin was retired from the United States Army having served in Vietnam, receiving numerous decorations including multiple Purple Hearts. Hobbies included being a New York Giants fan. Mr. Kulin is survived by his wife of 27 years, Nancy E. Kulin of the home; three daughters, Dawn Kulin, Tacoma, Washington, Barbara Kulin, Portland, Oregon and Monica Kulin, Miami, Florida: one son, Stephen Joseph Kulin III, Vancouver, Washington: one sister, Esther Knight of Mountain City, Tennessee: four grandchildren, Grayson Kulin, Makinzey Kulin, Rylee Kulin and Payton Kulin: five nephews, Robert Knight, Albert Benitez, Carlos Hernandez, Jorge Cortes and Mario Cortes. A funeral mass for Mr. Kulin will be conducted on Saturday, November 5, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. from the Saint Anthony's Catholic Church with Father Dennis Kress to officiate. Military honors will follow from the Shady Valley Memorial Gardens accorded by the Johnson County Honor Guard. The family will receive friends on Friday, November 4, 2005 from 5:00 until 9:00 p.m. from the Hux-Lipford Funeral Home Chapel. Pallbearers will be Robert Knight, Bobby Wilson, David Wilson, Carlos Hernandez, Anthony Acosta and Alex Pestico. Honorary pallbearers are Albert Benitez and Jorge Cortes. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the St. Judes Childrens Hospital, Memphis, Tennessee.
