Steve had a remarkable talent for building anything with his hands.
Steve Cornette, 79, of Mountain City, Tennessee, passed away on Friday, August 21, 2026. Born on November 17, 1946, he was the son of the late Harley Marvin Cornette and Doxie Ireland Ward Cornette. Steve was preceded in death by his wife, Judy Forrester Cornette and his beloved son, Anthony Cornette.
A skilled carpenter, Steve had a remarkable talent for building anything with his hands. He found joy in the outdoors, particularly through hunting and fishing. Steve was also a gifted guitarist who once played with Doc Watson's Band. He held a deep appreciation for the teachings of Charles Stanley. He was a big fan of the Atlanta Braves, and supported them even when they weren't winning.
Those left to cherish his memory include his daughters, Jackie Hicks and Lisa Bowman and her husband Gary; his adopted daughter, Shannon Dowell; his brother, Billy Cornette; grandchildren, Tommy Bowman, Catie Bowman, Andrew Hicks, Anthony Hicks and Aaron Hicks, Hunter Dowell, Weston Dowell, Kaitlyn Winters and Oaklynn and Jayden; several nieces and nephews, special nephew, Eric Cornette; and special friend, Becky Hawkins, who Steve always called his 13th daughter.
There will be no formal services for Steve.
