Susan Long

Mrs. Susan Mast Long, age 46, of Maryville, TN and formerly of Mountain City, TN went to be with her Lord and Saviour on Tuesday, May 21, 2013 at The University of Tennessee Medical Center, Knoxville, TN. She was born November 6, 1966 to Eugene "Gene" Mast and Margaret Rash Mast. She was a member of Beech Grove Baptist Church in Louisville, TN. She graduated from ETSU in 1989 with her Bachelor's Degree in Business. Susan was Vice President of Operations for Insurance Systems Inc. in Knoxville, TN. Her hobbies included photography, cake decorating and always lending a helping hand. She was active in her church and she especially loved spending time with her her grandson Sid and great niece Addy. She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, J.H. and Emma Mast; maternal grandparents, Rev. Ernest and Ruth Rash; father-in-law: Clure "Hack" Long; uncles, Billy Mast and Rev. J.D. Rash; aunt: Joyce Rash; and cousins, David Greever and Jeff Poe. Survivors in addition to her parents include: her husband, Gary Long, of the home; one daughter: Ashley Pierce and husband Phillip of Jonesborough, TN; mother-in-law: Geraldine Long of Alcoa, TN; brother: Scott Mast and wife Rhonda, Mountain City, TN; niece: Sally Snyder and husband Tom of Butler, TN; aunts and uncles: John Mast, Dolly and Freddie Wilson; Gail and John Willis, Jessie Mast, Mary and Pat Greene, Bill and Shirley Rash and Robert and Frances Peregrine; many friends and cousins. She is also survived by her special dog Punch. Funeral services for Susan Long will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. Thursday, May 23, 2013 from the Charles B. Hux Memorial Chapel of Hux-Lipford Funeral Home with Rev. Lonnie Denney and Rev. Kenny Armstrong officiating. Music will be provided by the Aldrige Family. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. prior to the service. Graveside service and interment will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 24, 2013 from Sunset Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Garry Greene, Jim Mast, Darrell Wilson, James Rash, David Rash, Steve Poe and Bob Pardue. Honorary pallbearers will be Mike Payne, Phil Mast, Mike Fritts and Bill Muse, Greg Reece, Tom Snyder, Butler Reece, Eugene Hand, John MacCurdy, the J.C.H.S. Class of 1985 and members of her Sunday School Class at Beech Grove Baptist Church. At other times friends may call at her parents' residence, 1726 Forge Road, Mountain City, TN.
