Rev. C.L. Swink, age 84, of 638 Hillside Drive, Mountain City, Tennessee passed away Thursday, September 18, 2008 at the Veterans Administration Medical Center, Mountain Home, Tennessee. Rev. Swink was the son of Annie Probst Swink. He was a member and pastor of The Gospel Light Mission Church, Mountain City, Tennessee. Rev. Swink was a World War II veteran having served in the U.S. Army, and was a member of the V.F.W. Post # 6908. He loved gardening and walking in the woods with his family and sometimes alone, seeking spiritual comfort and guidance of his Lord. Rev. Swink was preceded in death by his wife, Grace Lee Craig Swink, one son, Clinton Paul Swink and two brothers; Jack Swink and Roy Swink.
He is survived by a daughter; Mary Price of Boone, N.C.; a son; David Swink and wife Rose of Vale, N.C. two sisters; Patsy Swink Allenberg, N.C. and Marie Swink Licolnton, N.C. Three Brothers; Kenneth Swink, Shelby, N.C. Buddy Swink, Maiden, N.C. and David Swink Newton, N.C. Seven grandchildren and Fifteen great grandchildren several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services for Rev. C.L. Swink will be conducted Sunday, September 21, 2008 at 4 p.m. from the Charles B. Hux Memorial Chapel of the Hux-Lipford Funeral Home, with Rev. Paul Stanley officiating. Military graveside service and entombment will follow from the Sunset Memorial Park Mausoleum of Love, accorded by the Johnson County Honor Guard. Pallbearers will be Carl Daye, Bobby Coffey, Bob Horne and Jeff Reece. Honorary pallbearers will be Members of the V.F.W. Post # 6908. The family will receive friends from 2:00 – 4:00 PM on Sunday prior to the funeral services.
