Teddy Chris Morley

Listen to Obituary

Teddy Chris Morley, age 66, of Mountain City, Tennessee, passed away peacefully at his home, following a brief battle with cancer, on Saturday, September 12, 2026. He was born September 13, 1959, in Mountain City, Tn, and was preceded in death by his father, Freddie Claude Morley and mother, Bettye Payne Gentry Morley.

He is survived by his wife of 17 years, Lisa, who cared selflessly for him the last weeks of his life. Teddy was the love of her life and she will always remember him being confident and strong which made her feel safe and secure throughout their marriage. He is also survived by his son, Chris (Beth); grandsons Ethan and Leland; grand-dogs Kimber, Ruger, Remi; brother Randy; and several nieces, special hunting buddies, neighbors, and church friends.

After retirement from AGC Industries, Abingdon, VA, Teddy had plenty of time to enjoy doing what he loved best. He was an avid deer hunter and spent many days in the woods as well as preparing for the season with his son, Chris. During the time he was not hunting, he enjoyed mowing, helping Chris with his many projects, watching TV, especially sports and Sci-Fi, hanging out at the local pawn shop, spending time with his grand-dogs, and walking the neighborhood to socialize. He attended church services at Central Baptist Church.

“Tedward” (his nickname which few outside the family knew) your ability to make us laugh with your quirky sense of humor, your gift for speaking hebrew during mountainous side by side rides, your uncanny knowledge of animal facts, your ability to see an intelligently different perspective than others, your retro fashion styles, and most of all your awesome dancing skills will be forever missed.

Funeral service for Teddy will be conducted on Wednesday, September 16, 2026 at 4:00 pm at Hux & Lipford Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 3:00 pm - 4:00 pm prior to the funeral service. A graveside service and burial will follow in the Phillippi Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Chris Morley, Ethan Morley, Leland Morley, Matthew Johnson, Phillip Dugger, Dale and Timmy Potter.

The family would like to give a special thank you to Savannah and the Amedisys Home Health/Hospice for providing care for Teddy throughout his illness.
