Terry Lee Brown

Listen to Obituary

Terry Lee Brown, age 49, of Butler, Tennessee, passed away on Friday, September 11, 2026. He was born September 20, 1976, in Boone, North Carolina, to Linda Gaye Williams Brown and Daniel Steve Brown. He was preceded in death by his son, Patrick Ethan Brown, and brother, Daniel Scott Brown.

Terry was a man who enjoyed staying busy, helping others, and being involved in his community. He had a wonderful sense of humor and always had a way of making people laugh. Terry loved fishing, hunting, mowing, thrifting, attending yard sales, and going to auctions, as they became treasure hunts for him and Caroline. He was a devoted NASCAR fan, with Darrell Waltrip being his favorite driver, and he also loved cheering on the Dallas Cowboys.  As an avid silver collector, Terry especially enjoyed searching for unique pieces to add to his collection.

Terry had a special place in his heart for the Shriners and the children they serve. He devoted much of his time to working alongside his fellow Shriners and Masonic brothers. He was a 32nd Degree Mason and a member of the Taylorsville 243 F&AM and Roan Creek 679 F&AM Masonic Lodges, as well as a member of the Scottish Rite of Freemasonry. Terry served as an Ambassador and was President of the Johnson County Shrine Club, a position he proudly held for the past four years. His work with the Shrine Club, particularly his involvement with the Shriner children, brought him great joy and was an important part of his life.

Terry earned a master’s degree in Criminal Justice and dedicated 20 years of service to Northeast Correctional Complex, where he served as a Sergeant before retiring. Following his retirement, he continued his strong work ethic by driving a dump truck for Maymead Inc. for two years and was a treasured friend and staff member of Hux & Lipford Funeral Home.

Above all, Terry will be remembered for his willingness to help others, his dedication to his community and Masonic brothers, and the many friendships he made throughout his life. His service to others, especially the children supported by the Shriners, will remain a meaningful part of his legacy.

Those left to cherish his memory include his fiancé and the love of his life, Caroline Johnson, whom Terry lovingly referred to as "Terry's angel" and often said he had loved since he was 12 years old; his mother, Linda Gaye Williams Brown (Clay Wilson); his father, Daniel Steve Brown (Cindy); his daughter, Sarah Johnson (Grayson); his sons, Timothy Brown, Isaiah Brown (Bobbie) and Eli Morris (Hannah); his brother, David Brown (Debbie); Aunts, Nancy McNatt (Mama) (Buddy), Tom Wilson (aka his second mom)(Randy Mink), special aunt, Marie Williams; uncles, Willie Williams, Steve Williams, Johnny Williams, Stacy Williams, Jackie Williams, Ray Brown, Jerry Brown, and Wayne Brown; special cousins, Donald McNatt, Keith Brown, Bit Brown and Travis Brown; grandchildren, Ivy Allen and his little fishing buddy, Kaycen Morris; niece and nephew, Amber (Timmy) McClellan, and Jacob Brown; special friends, Ronnie Lipford, Bo Thomas, Dan Lipford, Eddie Lipford, Eric Garland, Bobby Taylor, Josh Lawley, Robert Wilson, Jesse Gregg, Steve and Becky Wright and many more.
