Terry Jean Warden age 68 of 1767 Gentry Creek Road, Laurel Bloomery, Tennessee Passed away on Sunday, November 9th, 2014, in the Indian Path Medical Center, in Kingsport, Tennessee. Terry was born on May 17, 1946, in Baltimore, Maryland, to the late Forrest Waite and Donna H. Beaty, Rash. She attended St. Johns United Methodist Church and loved Facebook. Johnson County has lost a wonderful community worker and friend in Terry Warden. Over the years, Terry touched so many people and helped to change the lives of so many in our community; she will be sorely missed. Terry was a graduate of the Johnson County High School Class of 1964 and was active in putting together her 50 year class reunion. For over 28 years, Terry served on the Johnson County Chamber Board of Directors, serving as president, vice president, and part time chamber coordinator. She also created and chaired many events over the years, including acting as the first chamber- sponsored Johnson County Leadership Program Director, chairing the Independence Day celebration at the park, Apples for the Teachers, the Fourth of July Parade, Shop Local promotions, and the recent Shop at Home incentive program benefiting local Chamber of Commerce member businesses. For over 15 years, Terry helped Johnson County adults realize their dream of attaining a high school diploma by acting as a recruiter/ public relations specialist, and official testing monitor for the Johnson County Adult Education Program. After retiring from adult education, she went on to touch the lives of Johnson County's young people acting as Director of the Johnson County/Mountain City Community Center. Terry Warden was a true community worker, with a rare spirit for volunteerism, and served unselfishly for our citizens. The Johnson County Chamber of Commerce joins with the rest of our community to salute and honor a true hometown hero who meant so much to so many. Survivors include a daughter Amy Corum and husband Jeff, of Mountain City, TN; two sons, Matthew Warden and wife Regina, of Sugar Grove N.C, and Jay Warden and wife Melissa, of Bluff City, TN; a brother, David Whisman, Laurel Bloomery, TN; two grandchildren, Laurel Corum and Hannah Warden, niecea and nephew, Davey Whisman and Susi Kaimakis, and special friends Jeannie Countiss and Mary Sturdivant. There will be a Celebration of Life Service for Terry on Friday, November 14, 2014, in the Charles B. Hux Chapel of the Hux Lipford Funeral Home at 7 pm, with Rev. Mike Bowers to officiate. The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 pm prior to the Memorial Service.
