Thelma Virginia Nichols, age 75, of the Greystone Health Care Center, Kingsport, Tennessee, formerly of Mountain City, went to be with the Lord Sunday, September 16, 2007. Thelma was born August 17, 1932 in Ashe County, North Carolina but had made her home in Johnson County for a number of years. She was the daughter of the late Rev. George Campbell and Emma Farmer Campbell. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Bernard Robert Nichols Jr.; five brothers: Ivan, Herman, Thurman, Hughes, and Willard Campbell; one sister: Tressie Farmer, and brother-in-law Lester Osborne. She was a member of First Freewill Baptist Church and a former employee of TRW of Boone, North Carolina. She is survived by one daughter, Elaine Gilbert and husband Kevin of Mount Carmel, Tennessee; one grandson: Christopher Herman; three great grandchildren: Christopher and Vanessa Riddle and Gabrielle Herman; two sisters: Selma Cornett and husband Kenny and Pearl Osborne, both of Mountain City, Tennessee; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; and special family: Billy and Eileen Winters and family; very close and dear friends, Bernard and Kay Nichols. Funeral services for Thelma Virginia Nichols will be conducted Tuesday, September 18, 2007 at 8:00 p.m. from the Charles B. Hux Memorial Chapel at Hux-Lipford Funeral Home with Rev. Frank Woods to officiate. Music will be under the direction of First Freewill Baptist Church Choir. Active pallbearers will be: David Nichols, Rick Cornett, Jeff Cornett, John Younce, Brandon Greenwell and Billy Winters. Honorary pallbearers will be: Kenny Cornett, Bernard Nichols, Matthew Cornett, Josh Cornett and Christopher Riddle. The family will receive friends from 7:00 ? 8:00 p.m. prior to the services. Graveside services and entombment will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 19, 2007 from the Sunset Memorial Park Mausoleum of Love.
