Theodore E. Vannoy

THEODORE E. VANNOY, age 90, of Damascus Virginia passed away Monday, March 14, 2011 at his residence. He was a life long resident of Washington County, Virginia and was a son of the late Walter and Agatha Vannoy. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corp, serving in World War II. Mr. Vannoy was a member of the V.F.W. Post No. 9830 and American Legion Post No. 135. He was retired from Mobay Incorporation in Damascus, Virginia. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Damascus, Virginia. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Marie Vannoy; and two brothers and two sisters. He is survived by one daughter, Mary Ann Vannoy Morefield and her husband, Roger, of Laurel Bloomery, Tennessee; one son, Les Vannoy and his companion, Jan, of Blountville, Tennessee; two grandsons, Chad E. Vannoy and his wife, Suzanne, and Les Stuart Vannoy; one granddaughter, Effie Mink and her husband, Doug; six great grandchildren and one great great granddaughter; and a very special friend, Doris Autry of Damascus, Virginia. The funeral service will be conducted at 8:00 P.M. Thursday, March 17, 2011 in the Riverview Chapel at Garrett Funeral Home with Rev. Robert Griffin, Jr. officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 P.M. to 7:45 P.M. Thursday prior to the funeral service at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Tommy Francisco, John Autry, Jesse Finley, Freddie Richardson, Adam Johnson, and John Nelson. Honorary pallbearers will be all his special friends. The committal service and interment will be at 11:00 A.M. Friday, March 18, 2011 at Sunset Memorial Park in Damascus with military graveside rites conducted by Highlands Veterans Honor Guard and Virginia National Guard Honor Guard.
