Thomas C. Dyson, 81, of Mount Airy, MD, passed away at home on April 22, 2024, and into the arms of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He was the oldest son of Thomas C. Dyson, Sr., and Grace A. Taylor of Mountain City, TN. Thomas was a faithful husband of Nancy Lee Sipple, who preceded him in death by almost eight years. They shared 55 happy years of marriage together, which all started with Thomas giving Nancy a driving lesson. Thomas was a hard-working man who sacrificed much for the benefit of his family. He was a member of Central Baptist Church for over 50 years, and worked as an equipment operator and landscape foreman at the City of Gaithersburg, MD for over twenty years. Thomas is survived by his sons, Robert Lawrence Dyson (Wen) of Stafford, VA, and Gary L. Dyson (Emily) of Mount Airy, MD, grandchildren Samuel T. Dyson (Casey), Katharine Dyson-Rieth (Zachary), and Sarah Jiana Dyson, and great grandchild, Jonah Thomas Dyson. Thomas is survived by his brother Jimmy Wade Dyson, and sister, Kathy Dixon, and was preceded in death by siblings Mary Joan Dunn, Peggy Carol Dunn, Ray Steven Dyson, and Judy Lynn Vann. The family will receive friends at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 8 E. Ridgeville Blvd., Mt. Airy on Saturday, April 27, 2024, from 5-7PM. Funeral services will be at Stauffer Funeral home on Sunday, April 28, at 3PM. The family will have a private graveside gathering at Pine Grove Cemetery in Mount Airy after the funeral, and celebrate the life of Thomas with a reception for friends and family at Calvary Evangelical Lutheran Church at 16151 Old Frederick Rd., Mt. Airy, at 4PM and immediately after the graveside gathering. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Central Baptist Church, or to an organization dedicated to the elimination of the pain from kidney stones.
