Thomas R Grayson

Thomas R. "Tom" Grayson, Jr., age 85, of 226 West Hillcrest Drive, Mountain City, Tennessee passed away on Saturday, August 7, 2010 at the Watauga Medical Center. He was the son of the late Ross and Grace Todd Grayson and was a member of First United Methodist Church, where he was a former Sunday School Teacher. He was a 50 year lifetime member of Taylorsville Masonic Lodge 243 F&AM and was a member of the Johnson County Jaycees. He was an attorney and the Senior Partner of Grayson & Wright & McEwen Law Offices, on the Board of Directors of Iron Mountain Stoneware and was an active member of the Board of Directors of Farmers State Bank for over 30 years. He was a United States Navy Veteran of World War II, having served on board the aircraft carrier USS. Theodore Roosevelt. Mr. Grayson loved history, antiques, working and socializing with his fellow man. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife: Mrs. Mary E. Grayson; one daughter: Kim Marshall; one sister: Louise G. Raynor and one brother: Kermit Davenport. Mr. Grayson is survived by two daughters: Eve Rebecca Grayson of Mountain City, Tennessee, and Sally Grayson Watson and husband Keith of Lewisville, North Carolina; one son, Todd Grayson and wife Melody of Mountain City, Tennessee; one brother, Dick Grayson of Trade, Tennessee; five grandchildren: Patrick Grayson, Holly Grayson, Matthew Stout, Christopher Watson, and Gracie Grayson; two great grandchildren: Elania and Selina Grayson; and special friends: Ken Caraway, Ray Payne and Bertie Morefield. Funeral services for Thomas R. "Tom" Grayson, Jr. will be conducted Monday, August 9, 2010 at 2:30 p.m. from the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Ken Caraway and Rev. Larry Rye officiating. A Military Graveside Service and Masonic Funeral will follow at the Mountain View Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Matt Stout, Christopher Watson, Patrick Grayson, Steve Marshall, Keith Watson and Holly Grayson. Flower bearer will be Gracie Grayson. Honorary pallbearers will be all members of the Board of Directors of Farmers State Bank. The family will receive friends from 1:00 - 2:30 p.m. prior to the services on Monday at the First United Methodist Church. At other times, friends may call at the residence, 226 West Hillcrest Drive, Mountain City, Tennessee.
