Obituary for: Thomas (Tommy) H. Owens (R Cat) Thomas (Tommy) H. Owens (R Cat), 49, of 1411 Crossroads Dr., Mountain City, TN passed away suddenly on Friday, September 17, 2010. Tommy was a truck driver for 30+ years and was employed by Pittman Trucking, Newland, NC. He loved Harley Davidson motorcycles, was a member of NRA, and loved his family and many, many friends. He always lived life to its fullest. He was proceeded in death by his father, Robert William Owens and sister, Phyllis Owens Ashley. Survivors include his loving lifetime companion of 31 years, Joy Boggs, of the home; mother, Barbara Owens, of Mountain City; brother and sister-in-law, Robert Dale and Brenda Owens; son,, Joseph (Joe) Owens; granddaughter, Chelsie Owens; nieces, Crystal Owens and companion J.D. Sluder, and Elena Payne and husband Shannon, all of Mountain City; nephew, Rodney Ashley, Springfield, OH; great niece, Brianna Capps, Mountain City; and great nephews, Noah and Levi Ashley, Springfield, OH; special friends, Mike Rhymer and Jimmy "Woody" Jennings and several aunts, uncles, and cousins. Services for Thomas (Tommy) H. Owens will be conducted at 8:00 p.m. Thursday, September 23, 2010 from the Eastside Memory Chapel of Hux-Lipford Funeral Home with Rev. Billy Morefield officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. prior to the funeral service. Graveside service and interment will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 24, 2010 in Wesley Chapel Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Jimmy "Woody" Jenkins, Dan Roark, Gary Wilson, Larry Mink, Buddy Williams, Rodney Ashley and Jerry Sluder. Honorary pallbearers are his many friends and many truck drivers. At other times friends may call at the home of his companion Joy Boggs at 1411 Crossroads Drive, Mountain City, TN or his mother Barbara Owens, 150 Eastridge Lane, Mountain City, TN at any time.
