Tommy Jack Shoun, age 79, passed away after an extended illness following Covid, on Sunday, March 3, 2024, at his residence. He was born December 26, 1944, in Johnson County to the late Jack and Gerturde Bales Shoun. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Mountain City.
After graduating from Johnson County High School in 1962, he enlisted in the United States Air Force and served in Italy. Over his life span, Tommy Jack was a businessman, involved with many ventures, primarily establishing and operating Rush Oil Company. In his working career, he was: a truck driver, an auctioneer, a convenience store owner, farmer, cattleman, and real estate developer. In addition to his parents, Tommy Jack was preceded in death by his sister, Caroline Shoun Burke.
Survivors are: wife of 50 years, Nancy Wills Shoun; sons, T.J. Shoun, Judd Shoun and wife, Kellie, and granddaughter, Merritt Grace Shoun. Sister, Jane Ann Shoun McGee (Thomas P) and niece, Sarah Anne McGee also survive.
Funeral service for Tommy Jack will be held Thursday, March 7, 2024 at 3 pm at Hux & Lipford Funeral Home Charles B. Hux Chapel with Pastor Rick Thomason officiating, and music to be provided by Sherry Tester . The family will receive friends from 2 pm - 3 pm prior to the funeral service. The graveside will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, with Military Honors accorded by the Johnson County Honor Guard.
