Troy James Potter, age 77, of 1710 Swift Hollow Road, Mountain City, Tennessee and formally of 13518 Hwy 67 West, Butler, Tennessee, passed away at his residence following an extended illness on Saturday, March 18, 2006. A native of Carter County, Tennessee, he was born on December 9, 1928 to the late James and Lena Sheets Potter. In addition to his parents, Troy was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Mae Potter, one son, Russell Brown; several sisters and one brother. Troy was a retired sawmill worker. He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, and fishing and was a fan of Tiger Woods. He was of the Baptist faith. Troy is survived by four daughters: Helen Church and husband Bob of Nashville, TN, Judy Pass and husband Danny of Butler, TN, Edith Wilson and husband Harold of Mountain City, TN and Penny Perkins and husband Frank of Butler, TN; one son, Donnie Potter of Mountain City, TN; three sisters: Jettie Potter, Orpha Potter, both of Elizabethton, TN and Dean Stines of North Carolina: two brothers: JD Potter and RL Potter, both of Elizabethton, TN; eleven grandchildren; four great grandchildren and special friends, Marvin Roush of Mountain City, TN and Vicki Gregg of Butler, TN. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral Services will be conducted at 12:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 21st, 2006 from the Hux-Lipford Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Harvey White to officiate. Graveside Services and Interment will follow from the Dot Potter Family Cemetery, Butler, Tennessee. Active Pallbearers will be: Travis Wilson, Danny Pass Jr., Chris Church, Toby Wilson, Waco Perkins, Trenton Wilson, Daniel Potter and Von Potter. Honorary Pallbearers are: Dr. Buddy Clayton, Bill Smith and Andy Issacs. The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 p.m. on Monday, March 20th, 2006 at the Hux-Lipford Funeral Home. At other times, friends may call at the residence at 1710 Swift Hollow Road, Mountain City, Tennessee 37683. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105-1942.
