Truman Potter

Truman Potter, age 74, of 2399 Campbell Road, Mountain City, TN passed away at his residence Wednesday morning, November 28, 2012. He was the son of the late Phillip and Mary Potter. Truman was a member of Sugar Grove Baptist Church. He was a native of Butler, TN and worked as a farmer, logger and a school bus driver. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepmother Doris "Granny" Potter; a son Danny Garland; a sister Montine Clawson; Brother and sister-in-law Bud and Ruth Potter; Brother-in-law Paul Fletcher; and brother Charles Potter and a great granson Dominique Garland. Survivors include: his wife, Edith Anderson Potter, of the home; two sons: Kevin Potter and wife Nancy and Loren E. Garland and wife Judy; two daughters: Loretta E. Laws and husband Buddy and Debra S. Garland, all of Johnson County; four sisters: Elouise Fletcher, Evelyn Cable and husband Jesse, all of Butler, TN and Jeanette Green and husband Ray of Vilas, NC and Roetta Harmon and husband Ronald of Boone, NC; grandchildren Angie, Amanda, Aaron, Brad, Brian, Allen, Jessica, Ragan, James Everett, Justin; great grandchildren Justice, Zack, Nate, Austin, Jacob, Josh, Brittany, Jessica, Alana, Truman, Solomon, Mileaha, Jaida, Hayley, Tyler, Cory, Triston, Cameron, Aden, Mason, Abby and Addison. Special friend and nurse Aleasha and several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services for Truman Potter will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. Friday, November 30, 2012 from Charles B. Hux Memorial Chapel with Rev. Ray Green and Pastor Greg Thompson officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.prior to the funeral service. Graveside service and interment will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, December 1, 2012 from Sugar Grove Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Justin Garland, Buddy Laws, Michael Fritts, Aaron Leonard, Joe Clawson, Glen Winters and Dallas Keenan. Honorary pallbearers will be Jay Matherly, Mark McEwen, Ralph McEwen, Jesse Cable, Roy Fritts and Mack Proffitt. At other times friends may call at the residence, 2399 Campbell Road, Mountain City, TN.
