Tyler Vance

We are saddened to announce the passing of Carl Tyler McClure Vance of Butler, TN. He was born June 16, 1985, in Columbus, NC. He passed away on December 18, 2024, at the age of 39.

Tyler was a man of contrast, a fiercely loyal and kind-hearted soul with a sharp edge of humor and honesty. He was lovingly described as a “kind asshole,” the type of person who would hand over his lunch to someone in need but wouldn’t hesitate to scold you for chewing too loudly.

Tyler’s passions defined him. He loved the thrill of fast cars, the strategy and excitement of video games, the dazzling brilliance of fireworks and Guns. Hiking and sunsets brought him peace, a time to connect with nature and reflect on life. Most of all, Tyler cherished his family and friends, who were the anchors of his life.

He is survived by his mother, Marian Bond Samion of Butler, NC; his father, Robert Dale Vance, and stepmother Paula of Thomasville, NC; his brother, Tyson Vance, sister-in-law, Caitlin, and their children, Ensley and Waylon of Mebane, NC; his sisters Taylor and Terri of Thomasville, NC. Tyler also leaves behind his devoted lifelong friend, Frank Wood, who stood by him through life’s challenges—finally, his constant and obedient Papillon, Shadow Ninja.

Tyler’s legacy is one of laughter, authenticity, and a zest for life and debate. He taught everyone around him to embrace their passions and to live unapologetically.

A celebration of Tyler’s life will be held at 1pm on Dec 29th at Hux Lipford Funeral Home (300 W Main St, Mountain City, TN 37683). In his memory, the family encourages acts of kindness, moments of reflection at sunset, and, if you’re eating a sandwich, keeping the noise to a minimum—Tyler would appreciate it.
