Vadie Vestella Ward, age 93, of Butler, Tennessee, entered into her Heavenly home on August 3, 2025. She was born on August 13, 1931 to the late Jasper and Julia Laws. Vadie was married to the late Lloyd Ward for 39 years. Also, preceded in death by her four sisters; Angie Stanton, Ilene Cartwright, Pearl Pope, and Edith Laws. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, friend, and neighbor, cherished for her kind heart, unwavering faith, honesty, and the love she shared with everyone around her.
Vadie wore many hats during her lifetime: farmer, nanny, waitress, housecleaner, and factory worker. The jobs she held may have seemed insignificant to the world, but she always took great pride in everything she did and gave her all in every task. As the world changed around her by leaps and bounds, she remained steadfast in her devotion to her Heavenly Father, living faithfully by the Bible and its teachings. She truly walked and talked with the Lord throughout her life.
Left behind to cherish her memory are her daughter, Evelyn Ainsworth (Freddie); granddaughter Brittany Hayworth (Zack); grandsons: Matthew Ainsworth (Jen), Cliff Ainsworth, Daniel Ainsworth; great-grandchildren: Waylon, Wilder, and Noa Ruth Ainsworth, Reagan Doner, Knox, Behr, and Summit Hayworth, Jason, Ryan, Krystan, and Kaitlyn Ainsworth. A special niece, Glenda Reynolds whom she helped raise and dearly loved, as well as several other nieces and nephews. She will also be lovingly remembered by many extended family members, friends, and neighbors.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 9, 2025, at Hux Lipford Funeral Home in Mountain City, Tennessee. Pallbearers will be: Matthew Ainsworth, Zack Hayworth, Gary Mumpower, Anthony Shaw, Lindsey Jennings JR, and Eddie Williams. Visitation will take place from 2:00–3:00 pm, with services beginning at 3:00 pm, with Brother-in-Christ Charles Morefield officiating. A private graveside service will follow in the Laws Family Cemetery.
