Vance Oliver "Jack" Garland

Vance Oliver “Jack” Garland, age 92, of 250 Edsel McQueen Lane, Shady Valley, TN passed away Sunday, March 1, 2009 at his residence. He was the son of the late Valentine Garland and Eliza Jane Roark Garland. “Jack” was retired from Thomasville Furniture Company and his hobbies included collecting guns and knives. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Rosa Pearl Garland in 2001 and one son, Junior Glenn Garland, in 1999.

 

Survivors include: two daughters: Betty Loggins of Bristol, TN and Phyllis Spears of Lenoir, NC; two sons: Bernal Garland of Lenoir, NC and Jackie Garland of Shady Valley, TN; eleven grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; several great great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

 

Funeral services for Vance Garland will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 3, 2009 from the Charles B. Hux Memorial Chapel of Hux-Lipford Funeral Home with Rev. Eddie Porter officiating. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Graveside service and interment will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 4, 2009 in Shady Valley Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Tuesday prior to the funeral service.

 

At other times friends may call at any time at the residence, 250 Edsel McQueen Lane, Shady Valley, TN.
