Verna Mae Woodard

Verna Mae Woodard, age 72, of 405 Fall Creek Road, Zionville, NC went to be with her Lord on Saturday, December 13, 2008 at her residence. She was a native of Johnson County, Tennessee and a member of West View Baptist Church. Verna loved spending time with her family. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Columbus R. Woodard, in 1997; her parents, George and Alice Potter Brown; a daughter, Ramona Coffey; a granddaughter, Diana Coffey; three sisters: Grace Eggers, Gladys Arnold, and Hazel Roark; and two brothers: Bruce Brown and Claude Brown. Verna Mae will be fondly remembered for her loving spirit and generous heart and will be greatly missed by all whose lives she had touched.

 

Survivors include: two sons: Raymond Woodard of Mountain City, TN and Charles Woodard and wife Janice of Zionville, NC; one sister, Rose Tester, of Mountain City, TN; two step-daughters: Joyce Hudler and husband Bob of Lincoln University, PA and Shirley Newhouser and husband Kenny of West Chester, PA; two step-sons: Walter Woodard and wife Wanda of Mountain City, TN and Earl Woodard and wife Bonnie of Zionville, NC; one brother-in-law, Bill Roark of Mountain City, TN. Eight grandchildren, eight step-grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, one great great grandchild, several nieces and nephews and many, many friends also survive.

 

Funeral services for Verna Mae Woodard will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 17, 2008 from the Charles B. Hux Memorial Chapel of Hux-Lipford Funeral Home with Rev. Zane Tester and Rev. Frank Johnson officiating. Music will be under the direction of Tammy Stout and Sabrina Reece. Graveside service and interment will follow in Dunn Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be James Eggers, Willie Roark, Russell Lewis, Johnny Stout and Chris Reece. Honorary pallbearers will be Alfred Walls, Dennis Dotson, David Fletcher, Darrell Woodard, Bill Roark and Mike Wagner. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 16, 2008 from the Charles B. Hux Memorial of Hux-Lipford Funeral Home.
