Vinnie Rash

Vinnie Lewis Rash, age 100, of 114 Rash School Road, Creston, N.C. passed away at Watauga Medical Center, Boone, N.C. Thursday, March 23, 2017.

She was the daughter of the late William Bill Lewis and Lillie Prather Lewis. She was born January 18, 1917 at Shouns, Tennessee.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Amos Preston Rash, brothers, Asa Lewis, Therman Lewis, Spencer Lewis, Dolphus Lewis, Denver Lewis, Carlie Lewis and Hillary Lewis. Sisters, Edith Hammons, Dorothy Price, and Eula Simcox. Son, Denver Dwight Rash and step-daughter Rose Kist.

Grandchildren James Patrick, Albert Kist, David Kist, Easter Paoletti, Shirley Ann Kist, and Michael Potter. Vinnie was the only living founding member of Laurel Spring Church.

She was an avid quilter, loved canning, bird watching, and spending time with her family and was a member of the Rash Quartet for over 40 years.

Survivors include: Two daughters, Mattie Patrick and husband Herman, Creston, N.C. Nancy Potter and husband Lee, Mountain City, TN. Step-daughter, Grace Kist and husband Rudolph Jr, Elkton M.D. Daughter-In-Law, Carol Rash.

Fourteen Grandchildren, sixty Great Grandchildren, nineteen, great great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews also survive and special friend, Effie Gambill.

Funeral services for Vinnie Rash will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. Monday, March 27, 2017 from the Charles B. Hux Memorial Chapel of Hux-Lipford Funeral Home with Rev. Terry Wood and Rev. Clifford Brewer officiating. Music accorded by Greg Jones, Brandy Phipps, and Abby Phipps.

Graveside service and interment will follow in the West Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Grandsons and Great Grandsons. Honorary pallbearers will be Nephews and Mike Payne.

The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Sunday, March 26, 2017 in the Charles B. Hux Chapel.
