Viola "Vee" Mcelyea

Viola "Vee" McElyea, age 96, of 706 West Main Street, Mountain City, TN passed away Wednesday, July 30, 2014 at Mountain City Care Center. Vee as born November 10, 1917, in Mountain City, TN to the late Phillip Christie and Vera Tester Christie. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lee McElyea, in 1984, and one son Erwin McElyea. She was a member on St. Anthonys of Padua and she enjoyed reading. Vee was a 50 years plus member of the Order of Eastern Star Maple Chapter #79. Survivors include: one daughter: Carolyn Roberts and husband Sonny of Mountain City, TN: one son: Johnny McElyea and wife Barbara of Zionville, NC: grandchildren: Michael and Sonya Roberts of Atlanta, GA: John and Shannon Roberts of Lasby, MD: Christopher and Shawn McElyea of Mountain City, TN: great-grandchildren: Tyler, Connor, Austin and Madison. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Mountain City Care Center for the wonderful care given to Vee. Funeral services will be conducted at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, August 1, 2014, from St. Anthonys of Padua with Father Dennis Kress officiating. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m.- 12:00 p.m. prior to the funeral service. Graveside service and interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be: Danny Cunningham, Robert Cunningham, Larry Stout, Todd Grayson, Frank Arnold and Terry Thompson. Honorary pallbearers will be: Staff of Mountain City Care Center and Dr. Susanna Shine.
