Virgie L. Owens

Virgie L. Owens, age 74, of 310 Dotson Lane/Apt. 22, Mountain City, Tennessee, passed away on Thursday, November 2, 2006 at the Johnson City Medical Center following an extended illness. She was born on November 22, 1931 to the late Charles and Betty Allen Proffitt. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Owens; one daughter, Betty Garman and one brother, O.D. Allen. Virgie was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. She is survived by two daughters: Kathy Ward of Butler, Tennessee and Maria Blackburn of Mountain City, Tennessee; three sons and two daughters-in-law: Lonnie Owens, Phil Owens and wife Jessica and Franky Owens and wife Jennifer, all of Mountain City, Tennessee; one sister, Joanna Proffitt of Mountain City, Tennessee; ten grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Funeral Services for Virgie L. Owens will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Monday, November 6, 2006 from the Charles B. Hux Memorial Chapel of the Hux-Lipford Funeral Home with Rev. Doug Stidham to officiate. Graveside Services and Interment will follow from the Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery. Active Pallbearers will be: Mark Carlson, Doyle Carlson, Robby Carlson, Randy Elwood, Barney Dugger and Virgie's sons. Honorary Pallbearers are: Members of the Johnson County Rescue Squad and Staff of Johnson County Home Health. The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 p.m. Sunday, November 5, 2006 at Hux-Lipford Funeral Home.
