Virginia P. Dunn

Virginia P. Dunn of Mountain City passed away at her residence on Tuesday, March 24, 2015 following a brief illness. She was born June 1, 1927 to the late Joe Dunn and Callie Pennell Dunn. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one grandson, Michael Dunn, one half-brother, Blaine McElyea, Step-mother Martha Dunn, six brothers; Dana Dunn, Clint Dunn, Bill Dunn, Curtis Dunn, Rob Dunn, and Blaine Dunn; and one sister, Mae McElyea. She enjoyed spending time gardening and working in her flowers. She attended Mountain City Presbyterian Church. Survivors include: five sons; Robert Dunn and wife Lois, Larry Dunn, and Mike Dunn all of Mountain City. Roger Dunn of Dublin, Texas and Dean Dunn of Arlington, Texas; one daughter, Charlotte Dunn and husband Don Brown of Mountain City; one half-brother, Hobert Dunn of Mountain City; six grand children; Dana Smith, Cristy Dunn, Diane Burnthorn, Cheryl Dunn, Tim Dunn, and Adina Dunn, and seven great grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. Friday, March 27, 2015 from the Charlie B. Hux Memorial Chapel with Rev. Carrol Hayworth officiating. Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. prior to the service. There will be a private graveside service at Sunset Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Andrew Matherly, Josh Hamby, Kyman Matherly, Devon Hamby, Jackson Matherly, and Marie Fritts. Honorary pallbearers are Hobert Dunn and Dr. Floyd Barker. At other times friends may call the residence of her son Larry at 1107 Ackerson Creek Road, Mountain City or at the residence of Bob Dunn, 1575 Berry Branch Road, Mountain City.
