Ms. Virginia Tester, age 74, of 746 Waddell Road, Mountain City, Tennessee passed away peacefully at her residence on Sunday, April 20, 2008. She was the daughter of the late Sollie and Mae Winters Stanley. Ms. Tester was a member of Ackerson Creek Church of Christ and a former employee of Southern Glove Manufacturing .In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Tester, and one brother, Charlie Stanley.
Survivors include: two daughters: Dottie Corey and husband Jerry of Bristol, Tennessee, and Alma Poteet and husband Mike of Mountain City, Tennessee; one son: Dean Tester and special friend Brenda Eldreth of Mountain City, Tennessee; one sister: Judy Hicks and husband Freddie of Mountain City, Tennessee; four brothers: Odell Stanley; Carl Stanley and wife Eva; Delmer Stanley and wife Evelyn; and Bert Stanley, all of Mountain City, Tennessee; seven grandchildren: Jessica Peters, R. C. Peters, Audrey Tester, April Tester, Jeremy Tester, Jason Poteet and Jesse Poteet; three great grandchildren: Madison Peters, Breauna Peters and Hannah Brown; special friends: Lucy Miller, Evelyn Stanley, Eva Stanley and many others and her very close and best friend Tabby - her cat.
Funeral services for Ms. Virginia Tester will be conducted at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 22, 2008 at the Charles B. Hux Memorial Chapel of Hux-Lipford Funeral Home with Mr. Herman Trivette officiating. Graveside services and interment will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 23, 2008 in Reece Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Jerry Stanley, Steve Stanley, Jason Poteet, Jesse Poteet, R. C. Peters, Jerry Corey, Mike Poteet, Chris Payne, Tony Stanley and Jeremy Tester. Honorary pallbearers will be her brothers: Odell Stanley, Carl Stanley, Delmer Stanley, Bert Stanley, the members of Ackerson Creek Church of Christ and Home Health. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 22, 2008 prior to the services.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Johnson County Rescue Squad, 203 Vandilla Street, Mountain City, Tennessee 37683.
