Russell Miller, age 87, of 1255 West Main Street, Mountain City, passed away Saturday, January 4, 2003 at the Watauga Medical Canter after an extended illness. Mr. Miller was a native of Trade, TN and a son of the late Willis and Chana Reece Miller. He was farmer and former employee of Mountain View Exxon. He enjoyed woodworking and was a member of First Christian Church. Mr. Miller was preceded in death by one son, Jack Miller; one step-daughter, Lois Reece; five brothers, Earl, JE, Noah, Estel, and Simon Miller; four sisters, Emma Miller, Ruth Hawks, Rosa Eggers, and Dessie Huffman; and four grandchildren, Michael Matheson, Sandra Robbins, Diana Watson, and Beverly Perasada. Funeral services for W. Russell Miller will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, January 8, 2003 at the Hux-Lipford Funeral Home Chapel with Mr. Jim Hutchinson and Mr. Dwayne Dixon to officiate. Burial will be in the Sunset Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Joe Lewis, Wade Lewis, Jack Cress, James Leffler, Scott Matheson, Earl Greer, Harold Garland, Jack Miller, and Steven Miller. Honorary Pallbearers will be Dr. John Whitlock, Dr. Peter Hiabock, Dr. Robert Griffith, and the Johnson County Rescue Squad. The family will receive friends from 12:00 P.M. to 2:00 P.M.
