Walter W. Tobe Smith

Walter W. "Tobe" Smith, age 84, of 635 Laurel Road, Mountain City, TN passed away October 5, 2012 in Johnson City Medical Center following an extended illness. He was the son of the late Annie Tester Smith and Jade Smith. He was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. Tobe enjoyed raising a garden and mowing weeds. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife: Mary Lake Forrester Smith; one brother; Tennessee Ralph Smith and one sister: Mary Smith. Survivors include: two sisters: Julia Kate Smith and Pearl Marie Smith and one brother: Willis Paul Smith, all of Mountain City, TN; special friend: John L. Neatherly and many friends. Funeral services for Walter W. "Tobe" Smith will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. Monday, October 8, 2012 from Pleasant Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Chuck Morefield and Pastor Jim Norman officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m.-3:00 p.m. prior to the funeral service. Graveside service and interment will follow in Snyder Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Tommy Neatherly, Bit Brown, Bud Slimp, Clint Dunn, Jerry Brown and Coleman Brown. Honorary pallbearers will be men of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. At other times friends may call be the residence, 635 Laurel Road, Mountain City, TN. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
