Warren G. Garland, age 83, of 728 Circle Drive, Mountain City, Tennessee passed away on Thursday, August 5, 2004 at his residence. Mr. Garland was a native of Shady Valley, Tennessee and was born on February 20, 1921 to the late Gordon and Rosa Duncan Garland. In addition to his parents, He was preceded in death by his wife, Lena M. Garland. Mr. Garland was a former employee of Tennessee Eastman of Kingsport, Tennessee and Tri-State Growers, where he worked for over 40 years. He was a member of the Sugar Grove Baptist Church. Mr. Garland graduated from the Watauga Academy in 1938. He was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corp and was a member, and former commander, of the American Legion Post # 61 for over 40 years. . Survivors include One Brother: Bob Garland and his wife Romeda, Mountain City; Five Nieces, and a special Great Niece, Madison Potter. Funeral Services for Warren C. Garland will be conducted on Sunday, August 8, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. from the Chapel of the Hux-Lipford Funeral Home with Mr. Jim Hutchinson to officiate. Military Graveside Services will follow in the Rock Springs Baptist Church Cemetery, accorded by the Johnson County Honor Guard. Pallbearers will be: Pat Conville, David Burrell, Larry Grindstaff, Gregg Proffitt and Jimmy Lowe. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 1:45 p.m. prior to the services at the funeral home chapel. At other times, friends may call at the residence, 728 Circle Drive, at any time. Hux-Lipford Funeral Home is serving the Garland Family.
