Wava Jennings Salmon Cornett, age 94 of Statesville NC, formerly of Mountain City, TN, passed away on October 20, 2010 after an extended illness at Brian Center Health and Rehabilitation in Statesville, NC. She was the daughter of the late Thomas and Archa Dishman Jennings. She was a member of First Freewill Baptist Church where she enjoyed attending church and reading her Bible. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by two husbands, Willie Salmons, and James Cornett, stepson, James Salmons, four brothers, Dan Jennings, Russell Jennings, Ed Jennings, and Earl Jennings, four sisters, Etha Jennings, Pauleen Jennings, Dora McKewen and Faye Gentry. Survivors include: step-daughter, Betty McMillian of New Castle, VA, two step-sons, Clyde Cornett and Jerry Cornett of Dant, VA, sister, A. Ruth Barlow of Statesville, NC, and several Step-Grandchildren and Step Great-Grandchildren. Funeral Service will be held in the Charles B. Hux Memorial Chapel on Saturday, October 23, 2010 at 11:00a.m. The family will receive friends from 10:00a.m. To 11:00a.m. Prior to the service. The Reverends Frank Woods, Sherman Barlow, and Otis Johnson will officiate. Interment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery, Saturday, October 23, 2010.
