Weldon G. Pleasant, age 87, of 157 Dugger Hollow Road, Butler, Tennessee passed away peacefully at his residence on Sunday, July 19, 2009 following a brief illness. He was the son of the late Robert D. Pleasant and Onnie Arnold Pleasant. Mr. Pleasant was an Army veteran having served his country honorably during World War II in the 91st Infantry. He was a member of Little Doe Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Juanette Lowe Pleasant, and two sons, Weldon Pleasant, Jr. and Larry Pleasant.
Survivors include: one daughter: Lynda Taylor of Pulear, NC; three sons: Lewis Pleasant of St. Augustine, FL; Lee Pleasant and Lonnie Pleasant, both of Butler, TN; one sister: Nellie Pleasant Reeves of Augusta, GA; one brother: Ray Pleasant of Kingsport, TN; seven grandchildren; several great grandchildren and several nieces. Special friend Robert Pleasant and many others also survive.
A graveside service will be conducted at 5:00 p.m. Monday, July 20, 2009 from the Pleasant Family Cemetery with Rev. Shannon Courtner officiating. Pallbearers will be John Fenner, Jimmy Jenkins, Robert Pleasant, Jonathan Pleasant, Bobby Pleasant and David Lynn Taylor.
Mr. Pleasant will lie in state Monday, July 20, 2009 at his residence, 157 Dugger Hollow Road, Butler, TN where friends may call at anytime.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the church or charity of your choice.
