Wesley Wes Mabrey Kennedy

Wesley "Wes" M. Kennedy, age 59, of 777 Pedro Shoun Lane, Mountain City, Tennessee, passed away on Thursday, July 13, 2006 at the James H. Quillen Veterans Administration Medical Center, Mountain Home, Tennessee. He was a native of Sunset Beach, Texas and was born on August 3, 1946 to the late Peggy (Collier) Kennedy and Robert Kennedy of Torrance, California. Wes lived in Los Angeles, California until 1988 when he moved to Mountain City as Plant Manager of Film Processing, Inc., where he helped to establish the business. Wes worked for 27 years with Film Processing Center, Inc. of Los Angeles, California and Mountain City, Tennessee. Wes earned two Oscar Awards for his work in Science and Engineering for the Motion Picture Industry. He had also been employed by Northeast Correctional Center of Mountain City for four years as a vocational computer repair instructor. Wes was a Vietnam Veteran, having served in the United States Navy. While in service, he was stationed in Japan. Wes loved working with computers and his church. He was a very faithful member of Dyson Grove Baptist Church and the church choir. In addition to his father, Wes is survived by his wife, Sheila Sue (Roberts) Kennedy, of the home; one step-daughter and step son-in-law, Jodi S. (Icenhour)and Kevin Hampton of Butler, Tennessee; special daughter, Amber Robinson of Johnson City, Tennessee; sister and brother-in-law, Loretta and Bob Pierce of Torrance, California; two grandchildren: Blade and Gage Hampton of Butler, Tennessee; several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews and special friend, Denise Bunton Norris. Funeral Services for Wesley "Wes" Mabrey Kennedy will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, July 16, 2006 from the Dyson Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Leonard Fletcher to officiate. Music will be under the direction of the Dyson Grove Baptist Church Choir and Brother Jamie Roberts. Graveside Services and Interment will follow from the Roberts Cemetery, Pedro Shoun Lane, Mountain City, Tennessee. Active Pallbearers will be: Joe Osborne, Albert Perkins, Todd Grayson, Larry Potter, James "Bud" Mahaffey, Tim Roberts, Mark Roberts, Jimmy Lowe and Jason Roberts. Honorary Pallbearers are: Men of Dyson Grove Baptist Church, Richard Cable, Joe Lewis, Walt Mahala, Walt Buchanan, Coworkers at Northeast Correctional Center and Staff of the Hospice Wing of the James H. Quillen Veterans Administration Medical Center. The family will receive friends from 1-3:00 p.m. on Sunday, prior to the Service, at the Church. At other times, friends may call at the residence on 777 Pedro Shoun Lane, Mountain City, Tennessee 37683. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Dyson Grove Baptist Church Building Fund, 517 Hickory Street, Mountain City, TN 37683.
