Wiley Ray Sammons

Obituary for: Wiley Ray Sammons Wiley Ray Sammons, age 89, of 877 Cold Springs Road, Mountain City, TN. passed away Monday July l9, 2004 at the Watauga Medical Center, Boone, N. C. following a brief illness. He was a native of Johnson County and was born September 20, 1914 to the late Harrison and Effie Lefler Sammons. Mr. Sammons was preceded in death by his first wife Pauline Sluder Sammons and by a brother Dayton Sammons. He was a graduate of Johnson County High School and was retired from Chrysler Corporation. He was a member of Liberty Christian Church and loved Fishing. Survivors include his wife Mae Ruth "Aunt Mae" Gentry Sammons of Mountain City, a daughter: Elizabeth Moore of San Diego, California a son, Edward Sammons of San Diego California; Step-son: Frank Gentry of Mountain City; one sister: Faye Raines of South Carolina; a brother Martin Sammons of Pennsylvania. Grandchildren: James, Patricia, and Toni Sammons: Great grandchildren; Kirsten, Randy, Sarah and Eddie and Special friends: Every one in Johnson County. Funeral services for Wiley Ray Sammons will be held at 3:00 P. M. Thursday, July 22, 2004 from the Chapel of the Henson Funeral Home with Mr. Jim Hutchinson to officiate. Burial will be in the Phillippi Cemetery. Pallbearers will be: Jimmy Carlson, Edward Sammons, Gail Fenner, Hayes Gentry , James Lefler and John Triplett. The family will receive friends from 1 until 3:00 P. M. at the funeral home prior the service. At other times friends may call at the residence, 877 Cold Springs Road at anytime. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make donations to the Phillippi Cemetery c/o Gail Fenner, 2352 Highway 421 N.
