William Wayne Arney, age 62, of 1940 Big Dry Run Road, Mountain City, Tennessee, passed away on Tuesday, June 1, 2004 at the Watauga Medical Center following an extended illness. A native of Mountain City, he was born October 5, 1941 to the late Kermit and Una Dugger Arney. William was a retired farmer and also had retired as a bus driver from the Johnson County School System. He was a member of the Roan Creek Masonic Lodge #679. William enjoyed spending time with his family and grandsons. He was of the Baptist Faith. William is survived by his wife of 40 years, Ida Lee Cable Arney of the home; one daughter, Norma Arney McQueen and husband Kenny, Mountain City; one son, Dwayne Arney and Wife Mechelle, Mountain City; four sisters, Mary Jeter, Ruth Robins, both of Mountain City, Belle Cable and Martha Dugger, both of Butler; one brother, Glenn Arney, Butler; two grandchildren, Dillon Wayne McQueen and William Mason Arney, both of Mountain City. Several Nieces and Nephews also survive. Graveside Services and Masonic Rites will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, June 3, 2004 from the Mast Cemetery with Rev. James Richardson and Rev. Jim Norman to officiate. Active Pallbearers will be Members of the Masonic Lodge #679. Honorary Pallbearers are: Dr. James Merrill, Dr. JC Devirgillis, Dr. Leanne Young- Fritchie and the late Dr. William Smith. Family will receive friends from 1:30-2:00 p.m. prior to services at the Mast Cemetery.
