William "Herb" Arnold

We are saddened to announce the passing of William (Herb) Arnold, age 92, of Big Dry Run Road, on Thursday, June 27, 2024.  Herb was born June 2, 1932 in Johnson County, Tennessee to the late Glenn Dugger and Mary Lou Arnold.   In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wives, Edell Hatley Arnold and Naomi Heaton Arnold; daughter, Barbara Barnhill and grandson, Eric Wesley Snyder.

Herb was a United States Air Force Veteran, a member of The American Legion, V.F.W. and The Johnson County Honor Guard. He loved bee keeping and making honey and was a member of Sugar Grove Baptist Church.

He is survived by his daughter, Dolores Phillips (Tim) of Elizabethton, Tennessee; sister, Glenda Greene; step sister, Sue Bunton; son in law, Mike Barnhill; two grandchildren, Brent Snyder and Austin Jenkins (Chelsey); three great grandchildren, Dalton Snyder, Cayden Jenkins and Rylan Jenkins; several nieces and nephews; special friends, Mike and Lisa Walker, Mark Hagaman and members of Sugar Grove Baptist Church.

Funeral service for Herb will be held on Monday, July 1, 2024 at 11:00 am in the Charles B. Hux Chapel at Hux & Lipford Funeral Home with Reverend Ray Greene and Pastor Don Winters officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 am - 11:00 am prior to the service. Graveside service and interment will follow at Sugar Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, with military honors accorded by The Johnson County Honor Guard.

Pallbearers will be Mark Hagaman, Billy McGuire, Tim Phillips, Brent Snyder, Dalton Snyder and Brian Mink.

Honorary pallbearers are Members of the Johnson County Honor Guard.
