Obituary for: William W. "Bill" Bower William W. "Bill" Bower, age 80 of 220 West Hillcrest Drive, Mountain City, Tennessee passed away Thursday, July 22, 2010 at the Mountain City Care Center. Mr. Bower was a member of the Mountain City Presbyterian Church. A Korean U.S. Army Veteran of the 4th Infantry Division having received two bronze stars, and a member of the Taylorsville Masonic Lodge 243 F&AM. Mr. Bower was also a life member having been a mason for over 50 years and a Shriner. His hobby was playing tennis and piano. He was the son of the late David M. Bower and mother, Kathreen Weed Bower; in addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, James W. Bower and David M. Bower. Survivors include: his wife of 49 years, Sara A "Sally" Bower of the home; four sons; William "Bill" Bower, Knoxville, Tennessee, James A. Bower and wife, Susan, Dallas, Texas, David A. Bower, Mountain City, Tennessee, and Thomas "Cat" Bower and wife, Jeanie, Mountain City, Tennessee. Grandchildren: Stephanie Bower, Elizabeth Bower, Robert Bower, Benjamin Bower, Thomas Bower, Sarah Bower, Bill Bower, Jake Bower, Katie Bower, Jimmy Bower, Patrick Bower and Ethan Bower. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services for William W. "Bill" Bower will be conducted Monday, July 26, 2010 at 7:00 p.m. from the Charles B. Hux Memorial Chapel of the Hux-Lipford Funeral Home with Dr. Tom Peake and Rev. David Hankel officiating. Masonic funeral rites will follow the funeral service. Military graveside service and interment will follow from the Sunset Memorial Park, Tuesday, July 27, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. Active pallbearers; Johnson County Honor Guard. Honorary pallbearers will be Richard Altork, Bill McGuire, Wiley Roark, Bill Baertels, Tommy Walsh, Jr., Todd Grayson, Harvey Burniston, Malcolm Hawkins and Tom Grayson. The family will receive friends from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. Monday, July 26, 2010 at the Charles B. Hux Memorial Chapel. At other times friends may call at the residence 220 West Hillcrest Drive, Mountain City, TN.
