William Clarence Cress

William Clarence Cress, age 87, of 937 Big Dry Run Road, Mountain City, Tennessee, passed away Thursday, September 8, 2005 at the Johnson City Medical Center following an extended illness. A native of Johnson County, Tennessee, he was born on September 29, 1917 to the late L.N. "Bud" and Minnie Wilson Cress. In addition to his parents, William was preceded in death by his step-mother, Thelma Church Cress. He was a retired Farmer and a member of Pine Grove Baptist Church. William is survived by one sister, Margaret Cress of Mountain City, TN; six brothers: Robert Cress, Jack C. Cress and wife Charlotte, Joe Mack Cress and wife Lois, all of Mountain City, TN, John Cress and wife Jewell of Morristown, TN, Jim Cress and wife Dorothy of Richmond, VA and Sam Cress and wife Ann, also of Mountain City, TN. Four Nieces and One Nephew also survive. Funeral Services for William Clarence Cress will be conducted at 8:00 p.m. Sunday, September 11, 2005 from the Pine Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Haskel Ingram and Rev. Carl Swift to officiate. Music will be under the direction of the Pine Grove Baptist Church Choir. Graveside Services and Interment will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. Monday, September 12, 2005 from the Brown Cemetery. Active Pallbearers will be: Danny Grindstaff, Jerry Grindstaff, Benny Grindstaff, Desie Ward, Pat Conville, Jim Snyder, Richard Snyder and John Shull. Honorary Pallbearers are: Jerry Stanley, Steve Cress, Wade Snyder, Bill Shull, William Arnold and Allen Snyder. The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 p.m. on Sunday, prior to Services, at the Church. At other times, friends may call at the residence.
