William E. "Sarge" Harris

We are saddened to announce the passing of William E. "Sarge" Harris, age 80, of Laurel Bloomery, Tennessee. Sarge passed away on August 4, 2024 at his residence. Sarge was born to the late, Cecil Edwin H. Harris and Edith Helen Lewis Harris on February 22, 1944 in Palmer, TN.  In addition to his parents, he was proceeded in death by his first wife, Mary Jo Meek Harris. Sarge was retired from the United States Army. After retiring from the Army, he worked as a truck driver, electrician, Deputy Sherriff, and was a former County Commissioner. He loved horse showing, coon hunting, and playing bluegrass music.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Lou Morefield Harris; daughters: Christie (Steve) Laws, Valerie (John) Curtis and bonus daughter, Amanda (Willie) Phipps; Other children: Christie LeeAnn Besserman (Mark) and Eddie Harris, Jr.; grandchildren: Whitney, Matthew (Sharone), Lexie (Zack), Haylee (Steven), Chris (Johnna), Aubie (Daniel), Sam, Noah, Autumn, Kaylee, Shelby, Courtney, Elston, Sierra Dawn; great-grandchildren: Skylar, Ben, Raylee, Gunner, Brantley, Ryker, Aurora, Lane and Ellie; his dog, Max and bird, Boo-boo and special friend, Wayne Johnson.

It was Sarge's wishes to be cremated, and no formal services held.
