William Lee "Bill" Woods

April 22, 1947 — May 6, 2017

William Lee, aka "Bill," "WmLee,"  Woods passed away suddenly on Saturday, May 6th at his home outside Mountain City, Tennessee.  He was watching  the Kentucky Derby while playing solitaire (a favorite past time),  and was blessed to have a dear friend present with him.

Bill was born the fifth of seven children  to Wildon Thomas and Charlotte Ruth (Jaggers) Woods on April 22nd, 1947 in Frankfort, Indiana. He spent his youth living and attending schools in Indiana and California.   Later, he was proud to serve as an army ranger during the Viet Nam War.

By those who knew him well, he will be best remembered  as a man who "let no grass grow under his feet" because he "had an itch" to move on from one place to another.  During his lifetime of 'moving on,' his work included farming, ranching, handyman, construction work, gardening, house painting, raising pigs, goats and chickens, and much more. He recently planted two vegetable gardens with the intention  of sharing his bounty with friends and neighbors in Tennessee, a place where he felt accepted and very much at home.

WmLee,  "Bill" is survived by two sisters, Nancy (Russ) Hall of California, Sandra Stahl (Richard Drain) of Arizona;   two brothers, Wildon Terry (Karen) Woods of Wisconsin and James Thomas (JoAnne) Woods of North Carolina; his daughter, Ginger (Devin) Brandle of California and his grandchildren Ashlyn and Ethan Brandle; his son Wildon "Willie" Woods of Michigan and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents Wildon and Charlotte (Jaggers) Woods and two sisters: Diana Lynn Woods and  Jacqueline Ruth (Woods)  Albaugh.

Cremation took place on Friday, May 12th in Mountain City, TN. At a future date and per his wishes,   he will be interred in a grave site beside his father, Wildon,  at the Greenlawn Cemetery, Frankfort, Indiana.

The family wishes to express sincere gratitude to the staff of the Hux-Lipford Funeral Home and to "Mr. Dunn",  as Bill called his friend Bob, for their kindness, compassion, understanding and support.
