William Dean (Paw) Morefield, age 70, of Mountain City passed away on July 2, 2014 at his residence. He had fought a battle with cancer for over a year. He was born August 4, 1943 to the late Oscar and Virginia Morefield also of Mountain City. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Benny Morefield of Mountain City. Dean was a veteran of the United States Army. He loved to attend church services and fellowship with his brothers and sisters in Christ. He loved to sing, never met a stranger and was loved dearly by his family and friends. Dean was of the Christian faith. Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Phyllis Laws Morefield of the home. One son, the pride of his life, Chris Morefield and his favorite daughter-in-law, Patricia Morefield. One grandson, the light of his life, Ryan Morefield. Very special sister, Linda Campbell of Butler; Brother, Bobby Morefield of Robbinsville, NC.; special brother-in-law, Doug Laws; special friends Carl Williams and Howard Carlton; special cousin Larry Danner; Aunt Helen Harper; Uncle James Harper; many other cousins, neices and nephews; many, many friends. The family will receive friends at First Christian Church on July 4, 2014 from 10:00 am - 12:00 pm. It was requested by Dean that no funeral be held as Dean's funeral was already preached through his life. It was also his wishes to be cremated. Friends may call or visit the residence at other times, 382 Dry Stone Branch Rd. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to either the First Christian Church of Mountain City or to the Harmon Chapel Christian Church of Shady Valley.
