Obituary for: Willis Ross Walker Willis Ross Walker, age 63, of 125 Rine Street, Mountain City, TN passed away Friday, August 27, 2010 in Johnson City Medical Center following a brief illness. He was a son of the late Joseph Paul Walker and Ethel Tester Walker. Willis was a member of Vaughts Gap Baptist Church where he was a church clerk and former trustee. He was a u.S. Army Veteran and a was a member of the 101st Airborn Screaming Eagles having served during Vietnam. Willis was an active City Alderman. He has touched many lives as a radio personality for WMCT. He loved spending time with his grandchildren, his church, and his many friends. Survivors include: his wife of 36 years, Jean E. Walker, of the home; one daughter: Andrea Johnson and husband Billy, of Mountain City, TN; one son: Eric Walker and wife Christy of Boone, NC; four sisters: Gloria Edwards of Supply, NC; Judy Wilson, Janice Ward and Kathy Shupe, all of Mountain City, TN; one brother: Dennis Walker of Mountain City, TN; three aunts: Ruby Stump of Bristol, TN; Adlee Robinson of Mountain City, TN and Leota Rash of Elizabethton, TN; one uncle: Hugh Walker of Mountain City, TN; five grandchildren: McKayla Walker, Maria and Elizabeth Johnson, Shelby Winebarger, Taylor and Bryce Walker and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Willis Ross Walker will be conducted at 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 31, 2010 from Vaughts Gap Baptist Church with Rev. Chuck Morefield, Rev. Tim Bunten and Rev. Frank Johnson officiating. Music will be under the direction of the church choir. Graveside service and interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 1, 2010. Active pallbearers will be Larry Wallace, Lester Morley, Mike Wilson, Jeff Norris, Tom Eller, Ed Walker and Michael Icenhour. Honorary pallbearers will be Board of Mayor and Aldermen, Town of Mountain City Employees, Men's Sunday Class and Deacons of Vaughts Gap Baptist Church, and Mike Shoulders. The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. prior to the funeral service. At other times friends may call at the residence of Mrs. Walker's mother, Louise Eller, 1350 Berry Branch Road, Mountain City, TN. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Relay for Life Hope Walkers Relay Team or Johnson County Cancer Support Group.
