Wilma Lois Watson Pope

Wilma Lois Watson Pope, age 78, of 919 Medical Park Drive, Mountain City, TN, and formerly of Shady Valley, passed away Wednesday, May 30, 2012 in Johnson City Medical Center following an extended illness. She was born March 11, 1934 to the late Otto Watson and Mary Nichols Watson. Wilma was a member of Appalachian Church of Christ. She enjoyed quilting and crafting, especially jewelry. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Ronald Watson, and one sister, Iris McCann. Survivors include: one daughter: Linda C. Morefield and husband Bill of Mountain City, TN; two sisters: Cleota McQueen and husband Reford of Shady Valley, TN; and Gertrude Gilley of Mountain City, TN; two brothers: Thomas Watson and wife Shirley of Mountain City, TN; and Howard Watson and wife Lorraine of Shady Valley, TN; two grandchildren: Lois Morefield and Paul Fisher, both of Mountain City, TN; five great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and her special friends were all the staff at Mountain City Care Center. Funeral services for Ms. Pope will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. Friday, June 1, 2012 from the Charles B. Hux Memorial Chapel of Hux-Lipford Funeral Home with Mr. Buddy Morefield officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. prior to the funeral service. Graveside service and interment will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 2, 2012 from Blevins Cemetery in Shady Valley, TN. Active pallbearers will be David Watson, Michael Watson, Cody Grindstaff, Nathan Grindstaff, Paul Fisher and Larry Laws. Honorary pallbearers will be Jonathan Morefield, Chad Morefield, Jessie Fisher and Jimmy Widener. At other times friends may call at the residence of the daughter, 175 Hamby Road, Mountain City, TN.
