Obituary for:  Wilma D.”Mom” Rhymer

Wilma D. Rhymer, age 81, formally of 2677 Crackers Neck Road, Mountain City, TN passed away Saturday, June 11, 2016 in the Mountain City Care Center.

Wilma was born November 11, 1934 in Johnson County, TN to the late William Clyde Proffitt and Carrie Mae Morefield Proffitt. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert O. Rhymer and a daughter, Bonnie Mae Rhymer, two infant brothers and also three sisters, Gertrude Tester, Bertha Arnold, and Ruth Grindstaff.   

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, and loved reading her Bible, spending time with family and friends and gospel music.

Survivors include her son, David Rhymer of Mountain City, TN; Daughter-in-law, Alice Rhymer, of Mountain City, TN; Grandson, Jonathon Bill Norris and wife Angie of Mountain City, TN, one great granddaughter, five great grandsons, and several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral service for Wilma “Mom” Rhymer will be conducted at 7 pm on Tuesday, June 14, 2016 in the Charles B. Hux Chapel of Hux Lipford Funeral Home with Rev. Warren Stewart and Rev. Chuck Morefield officiating and a eulogy provided by her son, David.

Private Graveside services will be conducted later at the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers will be men of First United Methodist Church, and friends. The family will receive visitors from 6 until 7 pm prior to the funeral service.

At other times friends and family may call at the residence of her son, David Rhymer, 924 Medical Park Drive, Apt. 505, Mountain City, TN.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to her family in care of Hux-Lipford Funeral home 300 West Main Street, Mountain City, TN for the assistance of funeral services.
